Cabernet Sauvignon grapes
Maribeth says, “Happy vines make happy grapes!” & that certainly played out in the 2017 growing season. Plentiful rain, healthy vineyard practices, and beautiful weather created the perfect conditions for a bountiful, quality harvest.
The heat spike in late August/early September had almost no negative effect on our grapes, as Jimmy employs shoot positioning and thinning tactics that protected the grapes. It was rare to find a vineyard that didn’t have burn damage, and we were pleased to make it through the heat wave with juicy, healthy grapes!

*Please enjoy these food pairing recommendations this fall and winter, and we’d love to hear any feedback you may have!*
2012 Sy-Rific-Cab The ultimate pairing with this easy drinking treat? A slow-roasted barbecue pork shoulder! For something less exotic, try lamb or beef burgers with a bit of tangy sauce or medium spices.
2012 Estate Zinfandel We love our Zin paired with Sunday football, a charcuterie board, and some Hawaiian pizza!
2011 Estate Syrah Our new favorite for a cozy night in is Chili Colorado paired with Syrah—try a Chocolate-Chipotle Chili Colorado to enhance those delicious smoky notes!
2012 Robles Rojos Enjoy this juicy blend with backyard BBQ, spaghetti, grilled steaks, or other rich foods. The bright acids, juicy fruits, and earthy components make this wine great for bolder pairings.
2012 Tempranillo *LIMITED EDITION* This Tempranillo is perfect with grilled quail with a balsamic vinegar reduction, or go for a heavier, oily fish like salmon.
2012 Malbec *LIMITED EDITION* Our rustic Malbec is the perfect companion for braised lamb shanks with rosemary.
Not a bad view for bottling day – June 3rd
Life continues to be ever so swell for sweet girls Genna and Sophie. Sophie’s first year has been filled with getting to know her best friend Genna, chasing deer and bunnies through the vineyard, and following Daddy Jimmy everywhere he goes. Both girls have mastered the art of walnut cracking and impress visitors with their ability to open the shell and not damage the meat – a perfect walnut, every time!
The girls rest on their favorite clover patch
Daddy Jimmy tells the girls not to eat grapes, but they don’t listen. We wondered why they had sticky foreheads near the beginning of harvest—and then we discovered they were sneaking off into the vineyard to eat Merlot grapes.
Minnie the Kitty: expert barrel maneuverer
Sweet Minnie pulled her usual disappearing act into the winery this summer, showing up every couple of weeks in the tasting room to get loves from Momma Maribeth and to check in on the rest of the humans. She always impresses us with her barrel climbing skills!

Parties, Festivals, Charity Events, & More...
We’d like to thank everyone who joined us this year to celebrate Doce Robles’ 20th anniversary. We participated in more events, donated to more charities, tasted more wine (perhaps), and toasted to the good times more in 2017 than ever before. If you haven’t stopped in recently, we’d love to see you in the tasting room soon. And if you can’t make it in, please drop us a line or give us a jingle in the tasting room, we’re open every day!
